The Facts

Our Beginning:

In 2014, Hospital Sisters Health System, the founders of St. Mary's Hospital in Streator announced that the hospital would close and all of their holdings in the Streator community would be sold. Richard Struck was the electrician on the campus and envisioned the former convent building as the first residential halfway house in LaSalle County. He organized and founded this corporation with the hope of accepting a donation of the property, but HSHS decided instead to sell the building to a private party. Rather than dissolve the corporation, we simply changed our focus to seeking another viable building and raising money toward the goal of acquiring, renovating and operating another suitable local home.

Our Organization:

Our organization was created with an eye toward being able to renovate buildings s that are able to accommodate our purpose. Richard Struck is a licensed union-trained electrician. We hope to share our skills with volunteers and residents, and have already met and gotten preliminary approval for our idea with Mayor Lansford and City Manager Wrighton. We anticipate that nearby residents will be excited to see neglected properties improved and better people as neighbors!
